Echo Writers
Monthly Crit Group
Echo Writers is a monthly critique group of story writers in and around Los Angeles who are looking to improve their short form. Our goal is to help refine our work towards submittable, publication-ready pieces.
We take our cues from the Milford style of critique, and preserve a schedule where each member provides and receives feedback every time we meet so everyone comes away with something to work from after each meeting.
#
Details about our meetings
-
We meet every first Sunday at 3:00pm.
-
Our sessions last 2+ hours with 4-5 min segments per individual crit given. Timing refined as we go.
-
We meet at a member's residence. Street parking is available. Address provided to participants.
-
We have an 6800 maximum word count for submissions.
-
We skew towards short-form literary and speculative fiction and will entertain other story-based genres on occasion. We don't critique poetry.

Interested in joining?
We'd love to hear from writers from a diversity of backgrounds and styles who meet these criteria:
-
You are 18 years of age or over.
-
You are an experienced writer working towards publication.
-
You have experience with crit groups and can commit to reading and providing incisive, meaningful creative feedback in the format requested for each meeting (not after).
-
You can commit to receiving the same feedback from others in the group with grace.
-
You are okay with small dogs. There will be one small, friendly, obedient dog who snores in laps.
-
You acknowledge that your first meeting would be a trial run to check the fit with the group.
If this is you, and you're interested, email the group with a description of where you are in your writing, your goals, and a writing sample of no more than 4k words. We'll get back to you when we can.
